City teen makes permanent exit

Karius earns two-and-a-half-year contract

Mainz have announced they are set to permanently sign Manchester City goalkeeper Loris Karius.

The Germany Under 19 international moved to the Bundesliga club on loan at the beginning of the season.

Mainz have been impressed and have offered a two-and-a-half-year contract with an option for another 12 months.

The club's general manager, Christian Heidel, told their official website: "We are pleased to be able to keep Loris Karius at our club.

"Loris Karius is a goalkeeping prodigy. He has a lot of potential. In the past six months on loan at our club, he has been pretty good in training.

"He has gone through some progress. We are now looking forward to having him here for the future."

Meanwhile, Mainz have announced the cancellation of the contract of midfielder Florian Heller and he is reportedly set to join Bundesliga 2 outfit Ingolstadt.
