Bayern Munich's Philipp Lahm could return from injury to face Leverkusen - report

The 28-year-old was forced to withdraw from the Germany squad to face France on Wednesday but could make his return to action as soon as next weekend

Bayern Munich defender Philipp Lahm could return from injury for next weekend's Bundesliga game against Bayer Leverkusen despite withdrawing from the Germany squad to play France in midweek.

Lahm played the full 90 minutes in Bayern's 2-0 win over Schalke at the weekend but ended the game with an inflamed knee.He has recently been struggling with bursitis and Dr. Hans-Wilhelm Muller-Wohlfarht drained Lahm's right knee of fluid after Sunday's game.

The doctor has advised Lahm to rest as participating in the international fixture could make the condition worse, putting him at risk of missing out on Euro 2012, according to Bild. However, the Bavarian club may well be able to include the 28-year-old in their starting line-up against Bayer Leverkusen in their next Bundesliga outing. - http://www.goal.com/
