Borussia Dortmund's Kehl pens contract extension

The 32-year-old midfielder, who has 31 Germany caps to his name, has committed himself to the Bundesliga champions until the summer of 2013, with an option for a further 12 months

Borussia Dortmund have announced that captain Sebastian Kehl has signed a new contract with the club. The 32-year-old midfielder has extended his contract with the Bundesliga champions until June 30, 2013, but with the option for additional 12 months.

"Borussia Dortmund are a very special club for me and my family," Kehl told his club's official website."As the longest-serving player at the club, I enjoy being involved in the process of shaping and advancing BVB's positive development."

Unsurprisingly, Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp was thrilled by the news that Kehl had tied himself to the Westfalenstadion for at least another two seasons."I'm very happy that the club and Sebastian reached an agreement," he enthused. "Right now we are seeing the best of Sebastian Kehl at BVB since I've come here."Kehl joined Dortmund from Freiburg in 2001 and has now made just over 200 Bundesliga appearances for the club. - http://www.goal.com/
