Fulham sign Pavel Pogrebnyak from Stuttgart for £3m

Cottagers complete signing of Russian international on a six-month deal from the Bundesliga side as boss Martin Jol bolsters his attacking options

Fulham have completed the signing of Pavel Pogrebnyak from Stuttgart for a fee believed to be in the region of £3 million.

The Cottagers have delved into the transfer market to secure the signing of the Russian international as Bobby Zamora looks set to leave Craven Cottage to join QPR.

Martin Jol had indentified the 28-year-old as his key target during the transfer window and moved swiftly to get the signature of the striker.

Pogrebnyak joined Stuttgart in 2009 and played 81 times in two-and-half years at the club scoring 19 goals.

Before moving to the Bundesliga, the striker had a successful spell at Zenit St Petersburg where in two years he scored 22 goals in 58 appearances and also won the national league and the Russian Super cup.

The Russian international had attracted the attention of Premier League clubs in the past, with Sunderland registering interest last year, whilst Blackburn were also keen on the striker during his time in Russia. - http://www.goal.com/
