Wolfsburg striker Ashkan Dejagah will link up with the Iranian national team and could make his debut against Qatar on February, according to Team Melli assistant coach Omid Namazi.The 25-year-old Tehran-born Germany-based forward has repeatedly been linked with the Iranian national team but is yet to make his international debut.
The former Germany youth international, who has made 18 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring two goals and providing four assists, was named in Iran boss Carlos Queiroz's 37-man preliminary squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifier against Qatar.And Namazi told reporters that Dejagah's agent Reza Fazeli had confirmed to Iran officials that the player would link up with the squad after Wolfsburg's clash with Hoffenheim on February 25.Dejagah has previously turned down Iran's invitations, including one to be part of their 2011 Asian Cup campaign. Injuries and administrative issues have also delayed his debut.Meanwhile, former Physical Education Organization (PEO) president Ali Saeidlu is likely to nominate for the March 5 election to become Iran's Football Federation (IFF) president alongside current president Ali Kaffashain and deputy Mehdi Taj. - http://www.goal.com/
