Questioning Bayern Munich is laughable, says Nerlinger

The Bavarians' sporting director has stressed that FCB have plenty of quality in the squad to win silverware this season, but downplayed talks of claiming the treble

Christian Nerlinger has insisted that Bayern Munich have the quality and mental strength to end the season on a successful note.

The Bavarians were criticised during a poor spell earlier this term, but the 39-year-old is adamant that Jupp Heynckes' men are in the right shape and frame of mind to enter the business end of the campaign.

"It's laughable to question the quality or the character of this team," Nerlinger was quoted as saying by Kicker."We have an excellent team that is capable of achieving a lot. We have to keep up our current level in the decisive stage of the season in order to enjoy a great year," the sporting director added.

Although FCB can still claim three major titles this campaign, the former Germany international has urged Bayern not to get carried away."There has been too much talk about possibly winning the treble right from start of the season, and during the winter break in particular. That's not the way forward."Bayern are currently preparing for the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final clash away to Olympique de Marseille on Wednesday. -
