The director has revealed that talks between the Spaniard and the club have not come to a conclusion, as the player has yet to accept the offer that is on the table
Schalke sporting director Horst Heldt has admitted that Raul has yet to accept an offer of a new contract at the club. The veteran striker, who currently earns €7 million per year at the Bundesliga outfit (€5m from Schalke plus €2m from his former club Real Madrid), has been offered a one-year extension, with his wage reduced to €4m per year.
"There is still no decision," Heldt told Sport 1, “For him [Raul] it is a big decision. "He must speak with his family first, and see whether the deal makes sense or not."
Raul has enjoyed an incredibly productive two years in Germany and is playing a leading role for Schalke in their quest for Champions League football next season. But with his playing career entering its twilight, a big money move to the USA or Asia could be a possibility for the Spaniard come the end of the season.
